Student Life

Track Team PrayingAt Wheaton, the classroom is only one aspect of a rich learning experience! Students have a wealth of opportunities to pursue their passions through extracurricular outlets. From drama to music to sports to ministry, and everything else in between, Wheaton provides activities for personal growth, spiritual development, and community building. Take a look at some of the opportunities available:

Student activities: Student Government, College Union (concerts, films, special events), the Record, weekly student newspaper; the literary magazine Kodon, and Tower yearbook; intercollegiate speech and debate competition, Gospel Choir, WETN-Radio/TV, theater productions, multicultural and international student groups, hobby groups, departmental and pre-professional study groups (including Pre-Law and Pre-Med), Orientation, Homecoming, and Family Weekend planning committees

Conservatory music organizations: Men's Glee Club, Women's Chorale, Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Opera Music Theater, Chapel Choir, West Suburban Choral Union

Ministry/service opportunities: Chapel services, Discipleship Small Groups, Office of Christian Outreach: Student Missionary Project (international summer missions trip), Global Urban Perspectives (ministry in American & international cities), Youth Hostel Ministry (ministry to European travelers), Christian Service Council (many ministries in the Chicago area), World Christian Fellowship (global prayer worship service), Missions in Focus (missions conference).

Intercollegiate sports: Men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, indoor/outdoor track, and wrestling. Women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, indoor/outdoor track, and volleyball. 

Resources available: Academic computing labs in dorms and other key locations on campus; campus network access to a variety of multi-user computer systems, email and internet access; TV and audio production studios and WETN-FM 88.1 radio station; specialized science facilities with modern equipment; observatory; libraries with 1,024,650 items and 2,300 current periodical titles, computerized information retrieval, and interlibrary loan; music library; language lab; Special Collections and Archives; The Marion E. Wade Center with collections of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and five other British authors; and the Billy Graham Center Archives.
